We’ve teamed up with one of our favorite bloggers, Beth Chappo of @seersuckerandsaddles, to get the scoop on her maternity must-haves. Read on to find out how she’s styling her growing bump.
A Pea in the Pod: Congratulations on your pregnancy! Tell us a little about you. Where are you from, what do you do, and how far along are you?
Beth: Hi! My name is Beth Chappo. I currently live in Indianapolis with my husband and two daughters ages 11 and 8 with a little boy on the way (T minus 8 weeks). I’ve been a fashion and lifestyle blogger for 5.5 years and love every minute of it!
A Pea in the Pod: You talk openly on your blog about how it has been nearly 10 years since you were last pregnant; what is the biggest change in maternity clothing from then to now?
Beth: Yes, it’s been quite a while since I’ve done this pregnancy song and dance, but here’s what I love about the evolution of maternity clothing: embracing, hugging, showing off the bump is all the rage—and I couldn’t be happier about it!
A Pea in the Pod: Since style is constantly evolving, how has your personal style changed in the past ten years and how have you been able to adapt your maternity wardrobe to fit your personal style?
Beth: I love how bump hugging fashion is in. I was more in to COMFORT when pregnant with my daughters, which meant LOOSE clothing. But now, I find the fitted maternity fashion to be more flattering and comfy too! A pregnant body is a beautiful thing and I love embracing mine.
A Pea in the Pod: What are your favorite pieces from our stores that you keep reaching for this pregnancy?
Beth: Hands down my DL1961 maternity denim and my Splendid Army Vest. I’ve found the key to dressing my bump this go around is to actually accentuate it, but my hips are widening at lightning speed. This vest does the BEST job at concealing those bad boys and showcasing the bump. I just love it paired with jeans and fitted dresses.
A Pea in the Pod: Will you be having a shower? What’s your theme and do you have dresses in mind?
Beth: Being that it’s my third I was nervous it would be poor form to have a shower; however, my best friends convinced me it was a MUST since it’s been a decade and it’s a BOY! There truly was no theme other than my dearest friends, fabulous eats, champagne for the guests, and tons of laughter, followed by (happy) tears while celebrating. I chose to wear a Rachel Pally maxi dress, because those beauties are hands down the comfiest and most flattering to wear while pregnant!
